Random Reflections: His Ways Are Not Our Ways
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening for whenever you're actually reading this. To make you very well aware these posts maybe coming out at random times. Not scheduled in most cases, in others it might be. There's been a lot of things going on in my head. Clearly in the last episode I spoke a bit about the things I was personally going through. Even in the first post on this blog. Where is this post going? I have no idea just yet. Just taking it where it will eventually go.
Recently, and when I say this I mean for months now I've been dedicated more than ever to read the word of God daily. In the beginn
ing when I first started I was taking massive notes. Then again I think it maybe because I had more energy when I started. Yet, I still retain about 80%-85% of what I read. Which personally to me is the biggest thing! I wouldn't want to read the scripture for nothing. I would want to read and gain understanding and retain what I have read.
I started back in the book of Joshua and just to make you aware I had read the books before Joshua prior to this year. But going back to where I started later this year. I started with Joshua and now am on the 1 Chronicles. In between these books there was a lot. A lot of history, a lot of stories, a lot of things that happened. From the judges of Israel. To the introduction of the first anointed king of Israel. To the downfall which was numerous times of Israel.
There's been a lot of information and a lot of genealogy that goes on between these books as well. But one thing that I've noticed and it's the biggest thing. The more I read, the more I learn, the more I get to see and understand the word of God. The more I become appreciative. I noticed that when watching videos on YouTube of street preachers and debates. I realized that most people that are against God look at the things of the Old Testament. And to be quite honest I could understand in part why. There is so much that goes on in the Old Testament. From the fall of humans, to Sodom and Gomorrah, to Noah and the ark, to Moses and Egypt, and the list goes on with a lot of the violence that happened was in the book of Joshua and forward with the battles and more.
Yet, when I've read these stories and continued to read there are things that just shows itself in scripture. God has made known in numerous times why a lot of the battles happened. Why people had to be killed. Now is it something we have to accept? No, not really. But as Christians we do. Because we understand that God is in full control and has His reason for such doings. We are all sinners and death is the outcome of our sins. So what God chooses to do should not be of question but of acceptance and giving Him, His place as God.
Most of the people that walk away from the Lord because of these things that they've read. Or even people that state that they can't follow our God for the violence and things that happened in the Old Testament but never got to know Him. Can't understand or chooses not to understand that His ways are not our own. And that He doesn't have to reason with us. We are here and have a chance to make it to heaven because His mercy and grace. Because He sent His only Son for our sins. If you ask me that's a God I want to serve.
God being almighty and great, His wisdom is not our own, and His ways are not our own either. In the Old Testament if you read word for word. You will see that He explains why a lot of these things happened or had to happen. Yet, He didn't have to say anything. The people that runaway or don't want to dig deeper to God and the scripture. Are not giving God His place which is outside of a box. He is timeless and cannot be caged. Though most people tend to put Him in a box. We have understanding of who God is and His characteristics. But we don't have His mind.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that. Reading the word of God and understanding that God doesn't abide by the rules of this world and that He is above all makes everything more palatable to take in and accept. Because the moment I go into a rabbit hole of why did God allow certain things to happen. Then it will lead to questioning God in a not so good of a way. Then that can lead to doubt and furthermore departing from Him. God has His place and that's above all things. I may think or we may think it was brutal but all the things God does is for a reason. Whether or not He chooses to tell us is that reason is His choice alone. As servants and children of God we must follow Him, trust Him, and remember and know that He is God Almighty.
My prayer is that anyone that is fighting with these thoughts. Of "How can God allow those things to happen?" or "How can I follow a God that allows destruction.". Whether you're a believer or not I pray that God touches your heart. That you may see that God is all perfect and all powerful. That we cannot and are not able to understand everything that God does. But that we must trust in Him. There are many things that God has done for us. And the biggest is sending Jesus for our sins. That we may be with Him again. Also I pray that you see the good. The promises kept even when they could've been broken because of disobedience and more. God keeps His word and has shown it time and time again. So I pray you read carefully and be guided by the Holy Spirit.
